# Managed Postgres

Managed Postgres on Unbroker is a provider-operated PostgreSQL cluster, not a database container you patch. It requires Pro. Managed Postgres pricing starts at $21.21 per month for 1 vCPU, 1 GB RAM, and 10 GB of storage. Pro itself is $25.00 per month with $25.00 of usage credit, and the cluster price is separate from that fee.

## Provision managed Postgres

1. Create a managed database, not an Apps database template. An Apps node runs a Postgres image as a private service that you operate. A managed cluster is operated by the provider.
2. Choose PostgreSQL, then a region, plan, storage size, and node count. The create flow shows which combinations that provider and region offer. The smallest catalogue plan is 1 vCPU, 1 GB RAM, and 10 GB included storage, up to 30 GB on that plan.
3. Read the quoted monthly price before you confirm. Prices below come from the current pricing catalogue. Extra storage on a plan is $0.30 per GB-month. The 1 GB RAM plan is a single node. Standby nodes require a plan with at least 2 GB RAM. You can request one to three nodes on plans that allow it.
4. Copy the connection details into the application's environment. Keep passwords out of the repository. Test a query from the app before you migrate data.
5. Decide the recovery you will actually use. Backup and restore behavior depends on the engine and plan. There is no single recovery guarantee for every cluster. Test a restore before you treat the cluster as production.

## Managed Postgres pricing

The monthly figures are what the pricing catalogue charges for the included storage on each plan. They do not include tax. They do not include the $25.00 Pro fee. Free does not include managed databases.

PostgreSQL and MySQL share this plan list. A larger shape costs more. Region and engine availability still come from the create flow, which can refuse a combination the catalogue lists in general.

## When to use an Apps Postgres node instead

An Apps database node is a private service in the project: a database image, a volume, and connection details you use from other services. You handle engine upgrades and the recovery of that volume. The n8n template is an example of that model. It is not a managed cluster.

Choose managed Postgres when you want the provider to operate the database host and you are ready to pay the plan you select. Choose the Apps node when you want the database beside the app and you will operate it.

## Questions

### What is managed Postgres on Unbroker?

It is a provider-operated PostgreSQL cluster you provision from Unbroker. You still own schemas, queries, credentials, and the recovery plan you test. The provider operates the database host.

### How much does managed Postgres cost?

The smallest plan in the current catalogue is $21.21 per month for 1 vCPU, 1 GB RAM, and 10 GB of storage. Larger plans are listed on this page. Pro is an additional $25.00 per month. Managed databases are not on the Free plan.

### Is managed Postgres the same as the Postgres in an app template?

No. Template Postgres, including the database shipped with n8n, is an Apps service you operate. Managed Postgres is a separate cluster with its own plan, storage range, and node count.

### Can I add a standby node to the smallest plan?

No. The 1 GB RAM plan rejects additional nodes. Standby nodes require a plan with at least 2 GB RAM.
